Like the saying goes…When it rains, it pours. Life’s troubles always seem to come pouring in all at once. After a week of cloudy skies and rainy days, it’s easy to start feeling down and a little depressed. After dealing with seemingly unending troubles, it’s even easier to start feeling discouraged and start losing hope that eventually things will start looking up.
When things are going smoothly, it’s easy to put your trust in God and rest peacefully in His care. However, when you’re struggling to pay your bills, dealing with family troubles, or facing overwhelming physical or emotional situations, it’s harder to say, Thy will be done.
It is during trials that our faith is truly tested. When facing trials, it’s easy to question God’s reasons and wonder why He won’t step in and help you out. When it feels like you’ve reached your limit and God seems to have stepped out for a minute, it’s easy to start questioning your faith. However, no matter what changes we face in this life, one thing doesn’t change. God is on the throne during both the good times and the bad. He never takes a vacation, and He never accidentally overlooks you. When it feels like you can’t take anymore, and you’re crying out to God to give you a break, remember this verse:
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
God promises not to leave us. He promises to provide us with the strength we need to make it through whatever we may face. When you feel like your life is falling apart or you feel like you may soon drown in the troubling waters that surround you, Do not fear! God will uphold you. Surely He will help you. He doesn’t say maybe He will. He says surely He will. If your troubles are pouring down, and you need a break from your cloudy skies, cry out to the Lord. In Him, you can find rest. In Him, you can take a break, and know that He has all things under control.
