We know many people prefer to donate to a small or more local charity, and we realize that World Vision is neither of these. However, we want to share our personal experience with them, for those interested in donating to this Christian charity.
We were very skeptical prior to signing up to sponsor a child through World Vision. They receive millions of dollars per year, and the fact that their administrative costs are on the higher end, made us a little leery about donating. However, because Christ calls us to give and leave the rest in His hands, we gave World Vision a try, and we’re very glad we did!
Because they are such a large Christian charity, they have the opportunity to reach out to people in places where most of us will never go. We want to help the children in Africa who have been orphaned by the AIDS epidemic, but at this time, God is not calling us to jump on a plane. We can, however, support those who are already there providing shelter, food, and love to those in need. We can’t help a family in Armenia build a business and change their family’s future, but we can donate to help them get a microfinance loan and have the chance to work towards a better life.
World Vision allows people to reach out to those across the world. They make a difference in the lives of desperate people everyday. They have their flaws, as do all charities, but they also have amazing opportunities to reach people in nearly a hundred different countries. Would we be able to do that on our own? No way, but World Vision makes it possible to be a part of something bigger.
Our experience with this Christian charity has been great, and we encourage you to click below to found out how you can get involved.
