Today, I want to challenge you to join me for a Day of Encouragement. I want to challenge you to strive to withhold words of hurt, judgment, and discouragement, and focus instead, on trying to find words that will uplift, motivate, and encourage those around you. Words are powerful, and we are to use them to lift one another up and glorify God.
Encouragement is a great way to give, and it doesn’t cost you a dime. However, it does take a great deal of self-control. Most of us have heard the saying, If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Well, that’s much easier said than done. We feel the need to share our opinion about everything. Whether we think someone’s overweight, lazy, lacks common sense, or is just plain rude, we feel the need to speak it out loud. Why is that? As Christians, our words are to glorify God. God says, judge not, be kind, uplift, and encourage one another! So today, let’s strive to do those things that are pleasing to God.
Today, instead of judging someone for what they’re eating, try to compliment them on how kind, patient, or helpful they are. Instead of telling someone they aren’t doing something right, try to encourage them by offering help. Don’t waste your words, make them count for the glory of God. Don’t just fling them around, use them to make someone’s day and share the love of Christ. You never know what your words may mean to someone. Words can cut deep and wound others, but they can also heal and uplift. Let’s strive to be more like Christ, and strive to encourage those around us. Encouragement may be cheap, but its effects are sometimes priceless!
